Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor at WPDE-TV. She later became a morning news anchor and crime report at WCBD TV. The journalist's report on the lack of response of the police towards DUI instances in Charleston caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was recognized by the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year award for all media in South Carolina. O'Dell has worked at Charleston reporting and co-anchor at the NBC Miami WTVJ-TV station before moving over to Access Hollywood where she is an anchor and reporter during weekends. O'Dell in addition to anchoring the main show for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She has covered major events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. In addition to co-hosting Pre-ShowArrivals in preparation for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. In addition, she hosted The Miss USA pageant as well as the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
